Adamawa Speaker Sworn In As Acting Governor

Following the impeachment of the governor of
Adamawa state, Murtala Nyako and the
resignation of his deputy, Bala Ngilari,
Speaker of the State House of Assembly,
Umaru Fintiri, has been sworn into office as
the new Acting Governor.

He was sworn in by the President of the
Customary Court in the State at the council
chambers of Government House, Yola.

Premium Times reports that Fintiri will hold
office for a maximum of 3 months during
which time the electoral commission, INEC, is
expected to conduct a fresh governorship
election.
