UPDATE via Daily Trust
In an attempt to forestall the spread of
Ebola virus that claimed the life of a
visiting Liberian in Lagos last week, the
state government has embarked on a
search for those who were on the same
flight with the victim.
Lagos State Commissioner for Health,
Dr. Jide Idris, said those who travelled
with Patrick Sawyer from Lome in Togo
to Lagos, are to be questioned and
monitored for 21 days.
Last week Tuesday, Sawyer was rushed to
First Consultant Medical Hospital,
Obalende, Lagos, a few hours after his
arrival when he started vomiting.

The
state government kept him under close
monitoring until he died at the hospital
on Friday.  The commissioner, Special
Adviser to the Governor on Public
Health, Dr. Yewande Adeshina and
Commissioner for Information and
Strategy, Lateef Ibirogba, during a press
briefing, confirmed that the state
government has embarked on the
search.

We are going to trace all of them,
each one of them is going to be
questioned. There is a protocol
they will follow in terms of
questioning. They are going to be
monitored in the next 21 days to
see if any of them has the
symptoms,” Idris said.
